Volcanic Stone,
Handcrafted in Fire

We transform raw volcanic basalt into sculptural surfaces for visionary spaces. Each tile bears the memory of 1,100°C kilns and the hand of our artisans — a fusion of geological time and human craft.

Born of Fire.
Reborn in Fire.

ORIGIN

Hainan · Leiqiong
UNESCO Geopark

Hainan's Volcanic Coast

Not every volcanic stone can stand a second flame. Ours can.

Each REFIRE tile begins on the northern coast of Hainan Island, China — inside Leiqiong UNESCO Global Geopark, one of the world's most intact Quaternary volcanic landscapes. Over a million years ago, lava rose through fissures beneath the sea and cooled fast enough to lock its bubbles, mineral flow and crystal structure into stone.

We quarry only the microporous basalt born from those eruptions. Hainan's grey andesite — visually similar, geologically different — cannot survive what comes next. We tested it. The fire told us no.

CRAFT

1100°C · twice fired
hand-fired in Foshan

Fired Twice, in Foshan

A glaze can be copied. A volcano cannot.

Every REFIRE tile walks through two firings inside our kiln in Foshan. The first drives out the water a stone has carried for over a million years. The second, hand-fired at up to 1100°C, fuses metal, crystal, pearl or glow-in-the-dark glaze directly into the basalt — held inside a narrow safety window between basalt's solidus and liquidus.

One degree hotter, the stone softens. One degree cooler, the glaze leaves pinholes. There is no automation for this edge. And because no two pieces of volcanic stone share the same porosity, the same glaze pours differently into every tile.

BELIEF

What We Stand For

We don't trust composites that "look like" volcanic stone. We don't airbrush our pieces into uniformity.

We keep the pores — the breath of an eruption.
We keep the variation — the honest distance between one lava flow and another.
We keep the scarcity — only a handful of permitted basalt sites in northern Hainan, only a few tons we are willing to fire each year.

REFIRE means to fire again. A volcano made this stone once. We bring it back to life, one piece at a time.

Born from Fire, Built to Endure

Every tile carries the force of volcanic earth — forged through an uncompromising process that bridges ancient geology with precision craftsmanship.

100% Natural Volcanic Stone

Sourced from select volcanic regions. No synthetic binders, no resins — pure basalt, shaped and fired.

Hand-Glazed

Each surface is individually finished by artisans with decades of experience. No two tiles are identical.

Heat & Stain Resistant

Born at 1,100°C, our tiles shrug off heat, stains, and decades of foot traffic — indoors and out.

Made in China, Loved Worldwide

Hand-fired in Foshan, China — for designers building hotels, cafés, and timeless residences worldwide.

Where Stone Meets Vision

From intimate boutiques to grand lobbies — discover how leading designers are using REFIRE stone to shape unforgettable spaces.

Hotel Lobby

Feature walls and reception counters in volcanic basalt — a commanding first impression.

Boutique Café

Warm glazed stone flooring and bar fronts bring organic texture to curated interiors.

Luxury Residence

Bathroom and kitchen surfaces that honor the raw beauty of the earth beneath our feet.

The Fire That Shapes Stone

Every REFIRE tile follows a journey that spans millions of years of geology — and four weeks of human devotion.

1

Quarry & Mill

Raw basalt is extracted from select volcanic deposits, then milled into ultra-fine powder for purity and consistency.

2

Press & Form

High-pressure hydraulic presses shape each tile body to precise dimensions before the first firing.

3

Hand-Glaze

Master glazers apply mineral-rich coatings by hand — brushing, dipping, and spraying to achieve depth impossible by machine.

4

Kiln at 1100°C

A 72-hour controlled firing vitrifies the body and fuses glaze to stone, producing a surface that will last generations.
